When you are looking for a distinctive and beautiful item for a gift, or something for a friend or yourself, visit The Shop at The Redwoods.

Since October 1999, The Shop at The Redwoods has been a vibrant part of The Redwoods community offering unique Antiques and Collectibles for sale to the general public.

Located off the main parking area between buildings 11 and 13 on the first floor, The Shop offers first-rate consignments of silver, china, crystal, mirrors, jewelry, paintings, lamps, furniture, and other collectibles. Proceeds from sales are used for programs and events to help our residents remain healthy and active in retirement. The Shop at The Redwoods has generated more than $66,000 since it began operation.

Background on the Shop at The Redwoods

Our success is due in large part to the enthusiastic participation of The Redwoods’ residents, family members, and friends. Our intention, from the very first, was to make The Shop an advantageous place of consignment for, and a premier source of, antiques and collectibles for Mill Valley and the surrounding communities of Southern Marin.

In the first six months of operation we had 39 resident consignors and 63 outside community consignors. The number has grown significantly over the years (exceeding a total of 300) and continues to grow each month.

We sell consigned items as effectively as any consignment shop in Marin. Consignors not only receive a generous 65% of the sales price (more than many consignment shops offer) but have the added satisfaction of knowing net proceeds accrue to The Redwoods for residents’ programs and events. In addition to accepting items for consignment. The Shop, staffed by Volunteers, gratefully accepts donated items and provides tax deductible donation slips.

How It Works

If you have treasures you no longer use or need, please call 415-383-1600, ext. 256 for an appointment to consign.

Merchandise is kept on the selling floor for 90 days. Consignor’s share of the sales proceeds is a generous 65%. Checks will be mailed monthly for items sold the previous month.

At the end of the selling period, the Consignor shall pick up all unsold items within seven days or donate these to The Shop at The Redwoods. Since all items are consigned at owners’ risk, we recommend consignors carry insurance for their items. The Shop at The Redwoods will not be responsible for loss or damage.

Consultation Service

Now available for your convenience, The Shop’s In-home Consultation Service assists with residential relocation requiring substantial downsizing of personal property (items such as mirrors, furniture, lamps, sets of china, silver, crystal, pictures, jewelry; no electronic items or clothing, please).
