The completion of our campus Revitalization is in sight!

The front entrance to our campus has re-opened on Camino Alto. The newly redesigned parking lot features a safe central pathway and several guest parking spots.

The magnificent new main lobby and living room are scheduled to be fully completed by the end of November. Our new dining room, kitchen and re-modeled auditorium have been open since spring 2016.

The centerpiece of this facility upgrade is the new John L. Levisohn Center for Dynamic Aging. Increasing balance and muscle strength to prevent falls and as an aid to increasing stamina are priorities of the wellness center activities and programs. State of the art specialized equipment for older adults will be installed in the exercise room which also will include massage therapy rooms and two therapy pools.

Around the campus, landscape architects are currently installing a new irrigation system and the grounds are being prepared for the planting of drought resistant, native and colorful plants and trees.

...brings a Bounty of Benefits
One of the many special features of our campus is the organic Garden. Located in a lovely spot close to the wetlands, it is a working garden that is tended by the residents themselves with the guidance of a professional gardener.

The Garden is a wonderful way for residents to come together as a community and enjoy the outdoors. And for those residents who enjoyed gardening in their previous homes, it is a particular joy!

Every week, residents participate in the abundant harvest of the organic flowers, fruits and vegetables. The harvest is not only used for Redwoods programs, but is shared with residents who do their own cooking or would like a fresh bouquet of flowers.

In May, Fiona Dunbar joined us as our new Garden Services Coordinator. A professional landscape designer and gardener, she comes to us with over ten years’ experience as a garden manager, naturalist, educator, mentor and volunteer coordinator. She holds a Master of Arts in Landscape Design and brings special expertise in the use of edibles, native and drought-resistant species. Among her many accomplishments: working with San Francisco children, teachers and parents to create school gardens. What a great addition she will be to our community!

Stop by and visit the Garden, or watch our video.
