Accommodations and Amenities
The Headlands offers one-bedroom independent living apartments for seniors. The apartments feature full kitchenettes, private balconies, and patios with beautiful views of Mt. Tamalpais and Richardson Bay, all nestled within our expansive 10-acre campus.
Residents enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of level walking paths along the marsh filled with abundant wildlife, the Robert S. Scott organic garden with elevated planting beds, and the succulent garden and potting corner.
Included for all residents are a full Life Enrichment program and a Wellness Center with gym and pool. Also available on an À la carte basis are dining, housekeeping and laundry services.
The Redwoods is rooted in connection—bringing people together in ways that keep daily life vibrant, purposeful, and engaging. Within our community and throughout the surrounding Mill Valley area, residents build meaningful relationships not only with one another but also with the many volunteers and partner organizations who enrich life on campus. Strong collaborations with local schools create joyful intergenerational experiences, from storytelling and hands-on crafts to shared holiday celebrations.
Our beloved resident choral group, Rock the Ages, frequently performs alongside middle school choruses across the Bay Area. We also partner with the nonprofit Bread & Roses to bring live music directly to campus, offering residents and team members regular opportunities to enjoy high-quality performances in an intimate, welcoming setting.
Residents can attend films and lectures in the auditorium, participate in fitness classes, or relax with a book or a game in the library. Residents gather in the lobby, the terrace, and the courtyard for conversation and connection, while creative outlets like the poetry corner and art studio encourage self-expression and continued learning. The Wellness Center, complete with a gym, spa, and therapy pool, supports physical health and overall well-being, ensuring residents can stay active, inspired, and fully engaged in community life.
The Resident Services team at The Redwoods plays a vital role in helping residents maintain their independence, well-being, and sense of security, while also advancing our deep commitment to affordability and access.
They assist during times of illness or recovery, including after a fall or in emergencies, and offer a compassionate, open door for emotional support—listening closely and connecting residents to counseling or therapy when needed. They also help coordinate practical services, from transportation options like medical shuttles and paratransit to arranging personal assistants, caregivers, and housekeeping. Support extends to home management needs such as bookkeeping, gardening, legal aid, and tax assistance.
The Resident Services team members help residents access and understand benefits such as Medi-Cal, Medicare, IHSS, and other county or long-term care programs. By combining hands-on support with a strong commitment to affordability, they ensure that every resident has the tools, resources, and advocacy needed to live as independently, safely, and fully as possible.
