Waitlist now open for Section 8 Apts
The Redwoods is accepting, in person or through the mail, Preliminary Applications Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 4:00pm on August 2, 2021 through August 31, 2021 for its Section 8 Waitlist. As long as the Preliminary Application is submitted within the stated timeframe, the timing of the Preliminary Application submission will have no effect on whether the applicant will be offered assistance.
This Waitlist is for subsidized, one-bedroom rental units only. To qualify, the applicant must be 62 years or older. To prevent over-crowding, households should be no larger than two people. The Redwoods will impose the following preference for the Waitlist:
Senior residents who already live at The Redwoods but who currently do not hold a Section 8 certificate
To apply, pick up an application at The Redwoods, A Community of Seniors Finance Office or download the application here. All Preliminary Applications will be accepted at The Redwood’s Finance office at 40 Camino Alto, Mill Valley, CA 94941. Preliminary Applications will be accepted from anyone who wishes to apply. Application materials are available in Spanish upon request. Due to limited availability, a lottery system will be used to select which applicants will be placed on the Waitlist. The Waitlist will be capped at 150 applicants including the existing waitlist applicants. Winning lottery results will be posted online to The Redwoods website (www.theredwoods.org)
no later than one week after the lottery.
Please remember that your Preliminary Application does not guarantee a spot on The Redwoods Waitlist, eligibility, or an offer of housing.
The Redwoods staff is prepared to assist any applicants who might have trouble completing the Preliminary Application form. This assistance may take the form of answering questions about the application, helping applicants who might have literacy, vision or language problems and, in general, making it possible for interested parties to apply for assisted housing.
